Our Story

A FAMILY LEGACY BY THE SEA

Beachside Boutique Inn started with a simple idea—to preserve the timeless charm of “Old Folly” and share it with others looking for a more meaningful place to stay.

Located in the heart of Folly Beach, South Carolina, our family-run boutique inn and cottages reflect a deep love for coastal living and the unique character of this island. From a 1930s military structure to a former dentist’s office turned cottage, every space here has a story, and each one was thoughtfully restored to blend original charm with modern comfort.

What began as a home has grown into a place where guests can slow down, settle in, and experience Folly Beach like a local. Whether you're here for a quiet getaway, time with family, or a weekend by the ocean, we hope your stay feels relaxed, memorable, and a little different from anywhere else.

What types of accommodations do you offer?
Beachside Boutique offers a variety of unique stays including eclectic inn rooms with private baths, historic cottages, riverside cottages, and some quirky themed rooms like the 70s room.
Are your properties pet-friendly?
All private cottages are pet friendly. Inn rooms that are pet friendly include the Prince Folly and Little Annie.
Is parking available on-site?
Parking is available limited to one vehicle for the Costa Rican Bungalow, All Quirky Cottage rooms, Sunburst cottage, Drunken Sailor, Kings Tide, Surf shack and Turtles Nest. While parking spots are in front of Riverside Inn, Wooden Castle, Smile House and Seacret Cottage, they are not guaranteed. Paid parking is across the street and free parking is typically close by.
Do you provide beach gear?
Yes, guests have access to complimentary beach chairs and towels for use during their stay.
Is breakfast included?
Guests staying at our inn properties can enjoy a continental breakfast each morning.
How close are the rentals to the beach and town center?
All of our properties are within walking distance to both the beach and Folly Beach’s town center, making it easy to explore without needing a car.
Is early check-in or late check-out available?
We do our best to accommodate requests. A $25.00 fee will be charged based on availability.
What is the cancellation policy?
Guests will be charged for one night if the cancellation is up to 5 days before check in.
Can anyone reserve a room or cottage?
Guests must be 21 years or older to reserve a room. Anyone under 21 must be accompanied by an adult.
Does Riverside have a dock?
No dock access is available at the Riverside property. The public park is one lot over from riverside and has a public dock. Folly Beach also has a public pier that is within walking distance.

MICHAEL and CHRISTY

Beachside Boutique Inn began as our cherished home, where we raised our family and created years of memories—from everyday moments to holidays gathered around the table downstairs.

What started as a home quickly became something we wanted to share.

Over time, Beachside grew to include unique cottage rooms and spaces like the Costa Rican Bungalow, where we’ve spent countless evenings with guests—often around the fire pit, sharing stories and enjoying the simple things that make Folly special.

Today, it’s a welcoming place for couples, families, friends, and even pets to create their own lasting memories. We’re incredibly grateful for every guest who chooses to stay with us—many of whom return year after year and have become part of the Beachside story.

LAURA and WRIGLEY

When guests talk about Beachside, they almost always mention Wrigley. Laura and Lana first visited in 2014 and quickly fell in love, returning year after year before eventually relocating to Folly Beach in 2019 to help manage both the Beachside and Riverside properties.

Wrigley joined the family in 2021 after being rescued locally and has since become the inn’s unofficial mascot—often greeting guests and making himself right at home.

Together, they bring a genuine, personal touch to the property, helping every guest feel welcomed, relaxed, and part of something special.
